This week our lecture was on the topic of how illustration is used within User Interfaces. Icons and drawings provide important user guidance in interfaces as they show users the process of onboarding and provide guidance when navigating an app or website. Illustration also strengthens accessibility by showing icons and photos instead or alongside text to help users.
Illustrations make the user experience more intuitive and simple, as a person who speaks a different language could still understand the icons and illustrations that are used.
Colossal is a biology website that I think does a great job of using photography and illustration in the background of their website design. Illustration does a great job of making a landing page/website into something more engaging and interesting.
