This week was our introduction to the module, we went over the projects that we will be creating and a overview of the module.
Chris Jordan is an american photographer, artist and film producer. His artistic work focuses on mass consumption and showing people the environmental problems we face.
The photo to the right is one of his works that highlights the lack of recycling in the United States and how products that should be getting recycled like plastic are still being thrown into junk yards. This photo was taken in 2004 in Seattle, USA.
The next piece to the left was taken in Atlanta, USA in 2004. It showcases circuit boards that have been disposed of, the purpose of this was to show that a soon as a product no longer satisfies our needs we throw it in the bin.
I personally like Chris Jordan’s artwork as although its slightly depressing seeing how we neglect our environment and nature, I think its an effective way of getting people to see where we have to improve and treat our surrounding better.
This week was a good start to the module as it helped to see the projects we will soon be creating, and how we can start to prepare. Im looking forward to start work on these projects.
