When looking at examples of mobile app designs, i started by looking at Revolut as it has a similar demographic and business model as my banking app.
I firstly looked at the landing page when you enter your pin to Revolut. I think this screen does a good job at showing the user how they can control thier accounts and cards, I also like the feature that allows the user to change the currency being used and the exchange feature.
The second screen I looked at was the screen for your specific account and although I think the screen does a good job at displaying the users money in thier account I feel like the transactions section could be more in depth and could lose the suggested box for customizing the home screen. But I think the buttons in the middle are a good feature becuase they are easy for the user to understand and use.
I also looked at another mobile bank called Chime, I started by looking at thier landing page and I think they do a decent job of showing the amount of money that they have in each account but I think they could improve by making each account more independent by maybe having they in different screens.
I then looked at Chime’s transaction page and while i think it does a good job at showing the user what they have spent thier money on and when, I think they could improve by using original icons that they have made intsead to the IOS emojis that they use. I also like that they show the time of the transaction as well as the date. Another feature i like from Chime is that they show your updated balance after each transaction so users can easily track how much money they have left.
The third app that i looked at was Neo Financial which is a online bank based in Canada, similarly to Revolut I looked at Neo because they share a similar demographic with my bank. The first screen that I looked at was the card screen, At first sight I like that they encourage the user to add the card to thier apple wallet so that they can use it digitally. I also like the feature of being able to freeze the card at any time incase of a potential breach.
Looking at Neo’s account screen its quite different from regular banking apps as it allows users to invest thier money, I think this feature is good but I dont think i would use it for my own bank as its slightly intense for the average user to be prompted with investing into things and I think that this makes the app less accessibile for everyday users. Apart from the investing side of things they do a good job of showing users how much credit they have, its clear and very easy to understand.
Chase UK was another example that I looked at. The first screen that I chose to look at was the spending screen, what I like about this screen is that they show the exact time and date that the user made the transaction. Another good feature on this screen is that it shows the user how much money theve spent so far in the month as its good to know in relation to budgeting and keeping an eye on your expenses.
