This week I started to digitize my type specimen screens using figma, I used my sketches that I made in week one to give me a good starting point:
For my first type specimen I used different ideas from my first and third sketches, I liked having Helvetica diagonally as it gave me more room on the sides of the screen. I started this design with the H in the background and the word Helvetica in the middle of it, I then decided to add more content with the paragraph in the middle of the H and the 1957 on the other side of it. To finish the design I added Helvetica repeated in the background in a similar colour to the background, and I also added the alphabet in italics in the top left and numbers 1 - 10 in the bottom left corner.
For my second design, I initially added the H in white with the red background because red and white is the colours of the swiss flag as it was created in Switzerland. I then added the content to the design with the text on the white background being black and the text in the red background being white.
For my final type specimen Screen I decided to go for a more simple approach with a white background and black text, the first thing I did was type out the alphabet with every four words being black and red, I did this twice and crossed both lines on the letter O, I crossed both lines as a reference to the swiss cross.
