I started to look at designs for music apps for our first project. I started by looking at Spotify’s .
I looked at the web app on laptop but the design is similar on mobile just without the extra side panel. What i like about using Spotify is that they include albums and playlists that are in your rotation at the top of the screen which saves the user from having to go through their library, another good feature is including playlists made based on a users taste in music. Another well designed feature are the icons at the bottom of the screen, their function is quite clear with the mic being lyrics to the song and the controller when listing from a console.
Moving on from spotify I looked into Apple music’s interface. Although I personally prefer Spotify’s user interface, Apple still have a structured and effective layout making good use of the white space of the Home Screen. My favourite feature that Apple Music uses is the background colour in the screen where the song is playing, because it adds more personality to the screen.
After looking at how different music apps display their User Interfaces I moved on to mind mapping some ideas for my own music app.
After I had completed the mind map, I decided on the features that I wanted to implement into the app:
Sketching was the next part of the project after figuring out what feature I wanted to implement.
