This week our task was to analyse and compare three different smartwatch apps and their unique and shared features
The first app i’m looking at is Shazam for the apple watch. The main feature of Shazam is to identify songs, the user presses the button and the app identifies and allows the user to play the song through a different music app. Shazam also allows the user to access previously Shazamed songs so they can play them through apple music or Spotify. Shazam also offers Siri support, so users can access and Shazam a song without having to use their hands. The app also sends the user a notification if it hears a song playing.
The second app i’m analyzing is Strava. Strava is an app that tracks the user’s exercises using GPS. From a features standpoint I think that strava does a good job at including unique and useful features for the user. Strava tracks the users exercise along with their heart rate. Although their biggest and most used feature is connection with friends who also use the app as it allows users to comment on friends posts and also compete with their exercise time and distance. Another unique feature that they use is beacon, which lets users choose someone who can track your exercise along with you incase of an emergency. When it comes to strava’s interface I think that it's effective while still being minimalist and easy to understand.
