During my second semester in first year. We completed a project that was to create a music app for mobile use.

I started this project by looking and researching into other competing music apps. I firstly looked at Spotify as its the app I personally use for music, I liked the Spotify interface as its intuitive and easy to use. My favorite Spotify feature is how they put your recently played music to the top of the app. The second app I had a look at was Apple Music, My thoughts were that Apple does a good job at showing users recommended music but I found that its slightly harder to navigate than Spotify.

After I had finished researching different apps I started to mind map some potential ideas for features. Mind mapping helped me keep note of ideas and it also helped me to think of features that might not be used by other music listening apps. The features that stuck out to me were: displaying rotation, background will match the current song and displaying what friends are listening to.

Continuing on from mind mapping I started to sketch some designs for the user interface. I found that sketching these designs was more difficult than expected because I had to make sure that my design and UI layout was different than other music apps.

Moving on from sketching the next step was to start to wireframe my designs so that I could have my layout down before I started to add content. At this stage I picked my typeface which was Proxima Nova.

This was my final design for the app, I kept some of the features with the main one being that the background of the app changes colour based on the colors of the album that is currently being listened to.
